HOW TO SIZE AN ANTI-FLOOD SYSTEM

There are FOUR main parameters to consider in order to size an anti-flood system correctly:
1° Authonomy without mains power . We recommend autonomy of between 1 and 2 hours, bearing in mind that in the event of rain,
the electric pump sized according to our calculations will operate for one minute every ten and thus for approximately six minutes per hour.
2°Area exposed to rain in m2. To this area you must add any uncovered areas that may convey water to the same drainage point
(roof, skylights, basement window wells, embankments, etc.).
Example: Uncovered area 110 m2.
Other uncovered area 22 m2.
Total area 132 m2.
3° Pressure head in m2. The difference in height between the electric pump and the drainage point to the sewer system.
4° Electric pump capacity in litres/minute. The calculation is very simple to make by applying the following formula,

which also takes account of pressure drops.

Formula: (Total area + 20%) x 1,5 = Example: (132+20%) x 1,5  = 237 litres / min

In this case, we should therefore use an electric pump with capacity of 237 litres per minute.
The data can be checked in the tables showing the pressure head and capacity of the pumps.
